Code of Conduct for Red Room Offensive @ ECU

 Effective 4th February 2019

A member constitutes a person on the slack workspace or RedRoom attendee.

RedRoomOffensive is a non-profit club with the following objectives:

1. To promote and offer the members a wide range of educational benefits and services such as, but not limited to, various cybersecurity events, designated training sessions and Networking.

2. To promote the RedRoomOffensive as a social and friendly organisation to all those in attendance, encouraging them to become a regular member.

3. To co-operate with any other club, having objectives similar to those of the Association, and formed for the purpose of fostering and promoting activities similar to the Association.

All members of RedRoomOffensive shall be bound by this Code of Conduct.


Members have a right to:

1. Be treated fairly, equally and with respect by the RedRoomOffensive, its executives and other members.

2. Socialise in an environment free from all forms of harassment and discrimination.

3. Privacy and confidentiality concerning records, documentation and any other communication containing a member's personal information, unless consent is otherwise provided.

4. Be informed and actively involved in all club events and offerings.


Members must:

1. Treat other members, guests, staff of venues and other patrons (where a social function is being held) fairly, equally and with respect and courtesy.

2. Behave responsibly and ensure they conduct themselves in a manner which will not injure the reputation of RedRoomOffensive, its events, organisers, participants or sponsors.

3. Not physically or verbally harass others.

4. Report any inappropriate behaviour of a member to the Committee of the Association for action and follow up.

5. Abide by and uphold the Constitution and Code of Conduct.

6. Notify RedRoomOffensive of any changes to student details.

7. Not use their RedRoomOffensive privileges to do anything illegal, inappropriate, or abusive.

8. Recognise that privileges are hard to earn, but easy to lose.

9. Attendees may not cause any technical problems of any type, transfer elements likely to carry computer virus or which may totally or partially damage, interfere with or intercept other RedRoomOffensive or property of others.

10. Attendees must not use the club for business, advertising, self-promotion or promotion of third parties without the express written permission of RedRoomOffensive.

11. Must abide by ECU's IT code of conduct.


Breaches of this Code of Conduct:

1. Any member not behaving in accordance with the terms of the Code of Conduct at an event of the Association may be asked to leave the function.

2. The inappropriate behaviour of any members will be investigated, discussed and an appropriate course of action will be taken by RedRoomOffensive executives, which may include a reprimand, suspension or revocation of RedRoomOffensive related events and privileges.

3. If required, the breach of this code of conduct will be escalated to the appropriate authority.
